The Hanna Perkins Center offers a variety of programs and resources for people who work with children on a day-to-day basis.

Our philosophy is to understand a child’s behavior as a means of communicating feelings or worries he or she may not be able to express in words. Our approach is to provide professionals with strategies to gently help these children communicate, understand and manage their feelings. Depending on the age of the child, this approach often involves teamwork with the parent(s) – an aspect that is explored where relevant in our professional development programming.

Ongoing professional development is provided through courses, workshops and consultations. These services are designed for:

  • Early childhood educators
  • Child care providers
  • Counselors
  • Psychologists
  • Social workers
  • Child life specialists
  • Parents
  • Other professionals working with young children and their families.
The Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development also offers resources for professionals through our library. For more information about using our research, click here.
